Next week at Siggraph in LA, Sony will be demonstrating the prototype of a new 360º Autostereoscopic display. The display allows you to view full colour volumetric objects from all angles, as if objects really exist. The display uses special LED light forces and can show 360 unique images to all directions in 1º separations. And no special 3D glasses are required to see the image!

  • Well speaking as a 3D holographic and quantum phase shift hyper dimensional expert in multi faceted higgs boson visualisation technology my expert opinion is that youtube comments is absolutely the best place to search for well considered expert opinion on any number of topics and it beats any of the drivel in text books or other rubbish learnt at stupid places like Universities. I would know nothing if it wasn't for the wisdom of the experts on youtube.

  • BEYOND SICK.

  • @4thDimensionNC Why don't you go wax your chest.

  • @NoahForksin I make POOPY!

  • Would not work vertically (as you approach the object / move away) only horizontally. I applaud the work though, as true 3D (e.g. that changes when the position of your eyes change) is the only way to get to past the uncanny valley or current tech

  • Throughout this entire demo I couldn't stop thinking 'Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope...'

  • Could it be the future of Skyping?

  • @TheTurnface

Threatened? Hell no. I smell bullshit. That's all. Unlike you, I'm not compelled to prove myself, nor do I care to show-off a degree I worked hard for, because I don't have to. For someone who is *supposed* to be educated in the field, you articulate yourself like a typical 16-year old. Much the same way as other ignorant posters, who are happy to piss all over someone's research, dismiss it as "pointless", all the while not grasping the actual subject in question. That's all.

  • @AntiProtonBoy If you want me to send you a copy of my degree I will, gladly. However on the basis that you just seem to be another 'keyboard warrior' and you seem to feel threatened enough by someone to attempt to make them look and feel bad, then why are you even commenting?

  • @TheTurnface

Do not confuse subjective options related to visual aesthetics, versus technical understanding of a subject. P.S. Playing computer games all day does not make you a "3D Visualisation Technician".

  • @i842much

What? Did my comment hit a nerve? My comment was solely aimed at individuals who automatically dismiss a concept as "pointless" and generally lack the foresight what these small evolutionary steps mean for the graphics industry.

  • @AntiProtonBoy it doesn't really drop, you just have a revelation about your own lack of technological intelligence. There is a difference, however if you would admit that and then continue to read the info garnered here, you could actually.....well probably not nevermind. Dont want to get your hopes up.
