SR 167 HOT lanes are HOV lanes that provide toll-free express trips for buses, vanpools, carpools of two or more and motorcycles, while giving solo drivers the option to pay for a faster, more reliable trip when they need it the most. To use the HOT lanes solo drivers must open a Good To Go! electronic toll account and attach a Pass to the inside of their windshield. Watch this video to learn how to use the HOT lanes. • i like the video

  • @joeshab123 It's like a reward for carpoolers.

  • @FSXTheGreat a HOV lane like on 405 is for buses and carpools only. HOT lanes allows for single driver to use HOV lanes while paying a toll.

  • Tsk, tsk, gosh, Do they have to toll a HOT Lane? Well, you just put the Express Toll Lanes just to get more money for the new proposed bridge your building (hopefully, your bridge project won't end up in failure).

  • 2 citizens of Washington love tolling

  • Gee Mr. Wizard, if moving commuters over to the HOV lane makes traffic better why don't we JUST LET PEOPLE USE THEM ALL THE TIME. Best thing we could do for traffic is just eliminate the damn HOV lanes.

  • Using new and improved technology to milk the population. You won't see any of the politicians taking the bus....

  • HOT lanes decrease the mean commute time of all drivers but not the median which leads to a high standard deviation in commute times.

  • I don't mind HOT lanes. They're just HOV lanes, except rich-ass single-commuters have the option to use the lane if they're running late or need to get to their destination faster. The SF Bay Area is also starting to use them. I-680 is going to finish up in a month, and CA-85 and CA-87 are supposed to have them installed by 2012.

  • There should be no tolls. Gary Locke said the 9 cent additional tax on gas that the voters approved was going to pay for the SR 520 bridge and the viaduct. This is B.S.
