Would be easier and much nicer to see if the page didn't jump continuously left to right. Poor audio.

@Anikatiaa -- First off: he didn't say he was a court reporter -- he's just demonstrating his (amazing) shorthand skills on a tablet. Second (and I dated a court reporter AND have testified in a case): even if he WERE one - they use steno machines that print stuff lawyers and judges can't read EITHER. Computers help nowadays, but there's ALWAYS a paper record being printed in real time with another kind of 'shorthand'. They transcribe it into a typed readable version afterwards.

@2dark2die The book for the 3rd edition (Gregg simplified) is still in print.
If you want to learn the older 2nd edition (which is quite a bit harder but has more resources than the 3rd) there's this really great site. All you really need are the overview/cheatsheet, the dictionary, the functional method book and maybe the reverse dictionary which is on the affiliated multiply site.

As a court reporter I say this dictation is great! Audio is NOT always the best and international folks with accents are great to practice. Lot of testimony is with accents and the more practice-the better. My parents were European, I grew up with accents & it has been invaluable in my career. My first job with with a Judge having a heavy South African accent. I was not swayed and when other reporters wouldn't take this work -I had work! If ya can't stand the heat; step away from the Bench!

What? I can't understand him. And who is still doing this? The judges and lawyers are not interested in this now days. It's all about realtime. Lawyers and judges are not trained to read this.

Truly a lost art.
I commend you.
