there were so guns launch used guns all the time in dragonball. and it dsnt say what time it takes place, since there are dinosuares.

Because Goku is actually an alien (saiyan) and he shouldn't look like an asian person! That is, in my opinion, the main reason why the actor playing Goku is a white person.
