I first stumbled across Patricia Petibon in a promotional recording session with Emmanuelle Haim for the album Handel, Arcadian Duets. She was so likeable, her voice so good, her interactions with Paul Agnew so amiable, etc. Tonight I have been comparing Rosso Album of this aria with Dessay's album. Petibon overall has a better voice than Natalie, I think, although Natalile is perfect here. I really greatly prefer Natalie's version. Why? Maybe because I'm so used to Natalie. Post to be continue

I've been trying to compare Patricia Petibon's version of this aria (Rosso) with Natalie's. It's confusing to me. Petibon seems to have the better voice, although Natalie is practically perfect in this one. I much prefer Natalie's because the interpretation seems more appropriate and relevant. Why do I think this. Maybe because I've watched the video of the Paris production so many times, maybe because I've gotten so used to Natalie, maybe because Petibon seems "over dynamiced" in this aria. Or

@MrHbc3 Natalie has a smaller, thinner one, but she has a real flair for the drama and musicality of opera which I love. She reaches deeper into the music in my opinion, but I may be a liittttttle biased... :)
