14 years into a committed relationship, and a May 17, 2008 California Supreme Court ruling over-turning the ban on same-sex marriage, inspired Steven Van Zile and Ciro Barbaro to get married in a civil ceremony on the first day legally possible, June 17, 2008. In order to beat the November 4, 2008 election, with Proposition 8 on the ballot, Ciro and Steven hosted a Landmark Wedding Weekend from October 3 -- 5, 2008 aboard the historic Queen Mary Ocean Liner in Long Beach, California. On October 4, the Ship's Captain officiated the re-commitment of vows in an elaborate public ceremony for their friends and family from all across the country. This video represents 15 minutes of highlights from that wedding weekend including close friends Amanda Abel (granddaughter of Eddie Cantor) singing a special re-working of "Makin' Whoopie," Desmond Child (Hall of Fame Songwriter) singing and playing keyboard singing his co-authored Bon Jovi hit "Gonna' Make a Memory", and Grammy-winner Rick Rossi with Rebecca Downs Rossi (www.rossimusic.biz) fronting a 12-piece powerhouse orchestra. Kudos go to Ray Daneshi Photography (www.rayphoto.net) who did the wonderful videography and photos, and Event Masters International (www.eventmasters.com) who put this phenomenal extravaganza together in less than 90 days. Here you will see a wedding celebration full of love and happiness: an opportunity everybody should have the right to enjoy. On May 26, 2009, the California Supreme Court ruled that their marriage is still legal, one of an estimated 18,000 couples that remain legally married.
