@J4m35George As you would!!! Cannot blame anyone for doing that!!
Then the pilot got the help he needed and in a timely manner.
A lot of people who are near these things just go into shock and freeze, some wait for the dust then go in to rescue mode. Kudos to them! :) :)

@J4m35George Looks like the rope/cable already had done its work?? Why did the pilot descend? Does not seem like a cable strike more the chopper descending into some nasty shit???
Just glad it was low level and the rotor assembly departed so less stuff flying round!

the rope connected to the heli was unable to be released. apparently there proceadure is to get some one to tug on it to try release it. when the man pulled on it it pulled the rope into the main rotor. i thought the thing looked very wrong and a heli should not have been used in such a small populated space

The guys who jumped in to get the pilot out where very bloody brave! NZ has had i very bad year...I'm so glad to hear that the pilot is ok.

@MrApeman69 Every body that was close ran to do what ever they could.

Not bad. I have a couple tips for next time though.
1. make a label that says "This side up" and attach it to the top of your phone.
2. continue recording the subject when a significant event occurs.

@J4m35George I suppose we can let it slide this time. Was the engine still running after the crash?

@Steve55599 it stopped but you can hear it winding down in other videos (loud whining)
