Making a simple whistle from a seasoned tree limb has always been a very popular project for the kids in my woodshop class. comprehensive list of materials. tells exactly what to do. and to rockin' music. I'm going to try to make one with several holes. Out of cedar - since that's what I have on hand right now.

Can you drill holes above the air slot - along the upper shaft and have different tones based on which hoels are covered with your finger - kinda like a flute?
