Promo for great song from Day at the Races. This is not the version on the album but they rerecorded it and then lip-synced the new recording for TV. Why they did it this way, I don't know but it's still great.

Queen - In Concert at Earl's Court 6th of June, 1977 DVD - Improved quality. This is Somebody to Love performed during the original Day at the Races Tour!

If you LOVE QUEEN in their prime during the 'Day at the Races' tour than this concert is for you!

This concert captures Queen during their peak years! While they were still the rocking band we all loved in the early 70s, their setlist was becoming more eclectic. 'Ye Merry 'Ol England ditties' such as Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy and The Millionaire Waltz were being played for the first time as well new heavies such as Death on 2 Legs and White Man. Doing Alright (from their first album) was even being reintroduced. WHAT A SETLIST! The quality of the video and audio is OUTSTANDING! Crank up the home theater system!

This performance was originally recorded to be released as Queen's first live video but due to some technical problems (Freddie's microphone didn't have sound in somespots of Ogre Battle and Tie Your Mother Down) it was never released. This is the complete concert and I know you will absolutely LOVE this show!

  • Hmm it's definitely not live, but also another version.. They must've recorded it in advance specially for this.. I mean Freddie looks too relaxed on the high notes, and sometimes you can actually hear his breath get cut off for a new take.. And of course the backing vocals but that could otherwise have been a backing track..

  • @jella11 You are 100% correct, that's what they did

  • why does this one sound a little different from the studio version??

  • For some reason they recorded another version and mimed it for this TV show. My source for the info is queenpedia

    ....

  • @thefluffydaisy

If you're calling me an idiot for saying this is not performed live, then you're only making yourself look like one.

    This is definitely prerecorded.

    Lol Mad brah? Idiot..

  • @jella11 oh my god can you not see?

they are preforming on top of the pops idiot

  • Just so fun and beautiful!

  • @ClassicRockDVD The real answer to the question is that SOME parts of the songs were recorded previously the TV show and some other parts were played live.

  • @423likeajewel Freddie doesn't have the voice of angels.

Freddie Mercury gives the angels voice lessons.

    That's why God needed him.

  • driving back in style in my saloon do quite nicely take me back to yours that would be fine:)

  • I think this was a mimed recording for UK's Top of the Pops show 1977, for Queen's First EP release which got to no.17 in the charts. Other similar TOTP Queen recordings were done for Seven Seas of Rhye, Killer Queen and Las Palabras de Amor.

  • the guitar is played live by Brian on a Greco BM900 guitar (copy of his original Red Special Guitar)
