  • dang i spoke too soon i guess. i followed your instructions perfectly but got this message: Fetch could not get ".ftpquota" because the server says you do not have the required permissions. Contact the server admin if you think you should have permission to take this action.

Server responded: "Can't open .ftpquota: Permission denied"

So am I doing something wrong?

  • @SeanMontie it sounds like you have the wrong login information. i use go daddy for my hosting, and the ftp address is actually just "website.com" and then my username and password. you can also try a program like fetch or transmit, which will log directly onto the server. if you can't establish contact through another ftp client program, then you won't be able to connect through dreamweaver. call your web host and see if you can get the correct information.

  • Man you are a life saver!!! Perfect tutorial, thanks so much!

  • @SeanMontie I'm so glad you found it useful. I was starting to wonder if anyone was still watching some of these.

  • @leviasay Interesting to note was i originally transferred over my site files from my old laptop to the new one and somehow it locked the files permissions. So when i first tried updating by following your video i got an error message "these files cannot be modified etc" I actually had to right click/get info and change the file permissions from "read only" to "Read and write".

  • @SeanMontie that's a really great tip, thanks for your insight.
