This is the first time I heard this song. I agree that this should have had airplay.
One question--why do you think the other two were kept in the background--in the shadows--in the dark...?

@Vincent50 I saw how you said that Mary made it known here that she was doing what Berry did to Diana. I beg to differ because Mary deserved every last bit of this song. She was the only original supreme that stayed to the very very end. She earned to sing lead for their last song. I am pretty sure that none of the replacements can feel as much as should could for the Supremes, from going through all of the groups sorrow, to overcoming every obstacle.

This was a great album, and this was one of the best cuts. Thanks for posting.

I've never heard this before now.. It's simply awesome... Never knew Mary was so talented...I'll always be a Diana fan, but this was great....

Miss Mary simply awesome in this beautiful ballad. I just bought the "Let Yourself Go" box which includes this song and the last 3 LPs by The Supremes. It all sounds like it was recorded today and the box is gorgeous, full of goodies... Don't miss it.

this song needed a better hook. After 'you're everything to me....' it falls off.

I agree, I didn't like the idea of the Supremes being in the background like that with no light on them so you could see their faces. they appear as almost shadows, making them seem unimportant, but there wouldn't be that great sound without all three members of the group. I don't think it was Mary Wilsons idea to do it though, she isn't the type of hog the spotlight like Diana Ross did.
This is one of the greatest songs The Supremes ever recorded and one of the few times Mary's voice was used properly. I'll never forget it because when it came out on that LP I was 15 and madly in love with a boy that was 17. You Are The Heart Of Me became our "theme." Oh what a wonderful time!

@bellachelito beautiful story. I was 16 and my girlfriend at the time gave me this album for Christmas. This song quickly became my favorite as well and now is probably one of my all time songs by the Supremes. Thank you bellachelito for sharing you memories.

There was a division in the group all along with the Supremes I just didn't like this performance shadowing the other two. Since Mary had spoken out about the way the Original Supremes had been treated and how she and Flo/Cindy felt like backups to Diana, she repeated the same crap in this performance. So she sort of made it known here that she was doing what Berry did to Diana.

Vincent, Mary didn't do this. Mike Douglas, Motown and Mr. Ferrer were responsible for this staging of this last song of Mary Wilson with the Supremes.
