Lots of people say that Paul Washer is legalistic. It makes me get a quizzical look when people say things like that.
It's absolutely crazy today. You preach grace in salvation and everybody labels it antinomian, you preach holy living, and everybody labels it legalism.
Apparently, we can neither preach grace nor holiness!!
May the Lord have mercy on us!!!

Also, I shared the "Courtship" series with my pastor. I was shocked when he thought it was legalistic. With all the mistakes that I made in my life, I wish these principle were taught in my home as a young girl.

"Anything in the spiritual life that savors of discipline or of really "taking up the cross" is termed legalism and is despised; on the other hand, what some call liberty is but self-granted license" - Leonard Ravenhill

@socksumi On Islam however we can agree. But that's a whole different thing.
-
@socksumi So you think Christianity is morally dispicable. Well I'd love to hear your reasoning behind this. Also different denominations don't believe they possess the only truth. We just know that some are truly dedicated to serving our God while some are just there for club time and feel good. I can point to several true teachers across denominations who are true brothers. The atheist position is illogical and really is not backed by science which itself contradicts itself.

@dragonify101 Prominent among many of Christianity's long list of criticisms is it's divisive nature. This happens when one takes a dogmatic and intlolerant approach to theistic belief. Each of thousands of denominations of Christianity believes THEY somehow possess the truth and all other interpretations are either folly or Satanic---so they bicker and condemn one another other. It just helps to reinforce the atheist position while providing a source of amazement and amusement for us.

@dragonify101 "This is true Christianity"---which is exactly why I find it offensive. Christianity (along with Islam) are two of the most evil, toxic and fraudulent belief systems ever conceived. Washer may or may not be true to scripture---I don't really know or care since the biblical doctrine itself defies science, reason and believability. PW makes Christianity SOUND primitive, absurd and morally despicable---so be it---IT IS.
-
@socksumi I'm sorry, I assumed you were one of the Arminians who just bash Brother Paul. If was wrong of me to assume that. But Paul is just stating what he believes, how does this offend you?
And how does he discredit Christianity? By actually preaching the radical truth? He preaches exactly what Jesus expected of His followers. This is true Christianity, the rest are just lukewarm and end up like the church in Laodicea like in Revelation chapter three. (Not how much scripture you know.)
-
@socksumi And also consider this:
Though you are a believer---just pretend (just for argument sake) that Christianity IS BS. If that were so, then Paul washer would sound like a seriously hard core, odious douche bag, right?---out there in the lunatic fringe of the fundamentalist movement. Well that is exactly how he is perceived by atheists, even moderate Christians despise what he says. He actually does more to discredit Christianity than any atheist could ever manage.
-
@dragonify101 Look at how I'm speaking (you ask)---do you look at how PW speaks?--the way he pours derision and condemnation on anything that is secular or that doesn't conform to his pinched view of existence. But it's okay with you when he launches those missiles?
And what on earth gave you the impression I was a Christian? I'm an atheist and ardent ant-theist. Also I never spoke of Calvinism as a "cult", the cult---is the entire Christian belief system.
i would like to hear a sermon of brother Paul's on eschatology.

@alexavasquez1992 Yes, I would too. I've heard him say, "On the day of Christ's return, your eschatology will be perfect."
