Hi...

After digging thru some of my old video tapes of stuff I shot, on-location as it were with a over the shoulder VHS recorder, and a 'half inch satacon color tube camera, I had found some footage of 'November, three one seven six sierra'-other wise known as "Airwolf". :)

One caveat 'tho...the footage does get a bit wobbly at times-partly because I also had a scanner radio hooked up to the recoder for air to ground, so everything was a bit cumbersome.

And also I was standing in the path of where the lady was going to move to for takeoff, so when I saw her moving I had to move out of the way a bit-slightly fast....

Still, you gotta love how cool she looks when the landing gear retracts.... ;)

  • Aw...thanks a lot for the comment. You know however that I posted this about four years ago?

Well, I might not get rid of it, but I will be re-posting it sometime soon because I now have a working 3/4 inch deck, and I'm trying to find the edited master that has the split audio tracks. One is the sound thru the microphone, the other is the audio from the scanner.

I'm also now trying to find other things I shot of 'The Lady' elsewhere....

    Stay Tuned.... :)

FOR GOD SAKE...! PLEASE PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS DOWN

its history... gold history for airwolf fans to see the lady like this...THIS is priceless

its so rare BIG THANK YOU FOR POSTING FROM ALL AIRWOLF FAN IN ENGLAND

  • @ksonyman68 (Just got back from a 'MorphicCon a few days ago, and transferring the video I shot as I type.)

Thanks for the comment! I have a working 3/4 inch tape player now, and I'm slowly going thru them to find the edited master of this and upload it again, with the scanner audio on one channel, and the open mic on the other. :)

  • That had to have been awesome to physically *be* there to witness it in action.

    Long live the Lady.

  • @markVIIchick....Yeap, sure was fun to be there at the places where she was showing up. Sometime-hopefully next month, I'll finally be able to get around to going thru some of the near extinct video tape formats I have, and after cleaning them up, post them here. It's just scanning thru every tape I have that's going to be hard....

  • Things like this video are treasures for real fans. This is awesome glad you found the time to post this. Thanks! Wish I could find more "Real Bell 222B Airwolf" behind the scenes footage. I almost bid on it when the replica Airwolf was being sold out of an air museum in Tennessee. Damn Germans turn Airwolf into an air ambulance and it crashes in a lighting storm.

  • @toddwarrior

Well, I didn't get any 'Behind the scenes' things shot, but I was able to see 'The Lady' again in the Southern California area at Big Bear Airport, and at a airshow of sorts at the former Tustin USMC Helo. Base. The only problem is that most of the footage is on a couple 3/4 inch video tapes. But....I know of someone that has a professional deck that still works, so I'm going to try and take a few tapes that I suspect the footage to be on and see if I can find where it is....

  • the howling sound could be acheived with custom fittings over the exhausts, but probably would be slightly different than on the show. So sad to know she crashed. A new mockup exists, but it does not fly. One step closer to rebirth of a fullsized flying airwolf!

  • I do miss the howling sound effects though...

  • Was this the same Bell 222 that crashed in a thunderstorm in 1991?

  • Guys this is brilliant i wish i was there the lady looks beautiful

thanks for posting...... please never take it down this has to be seen by every airwolf fan

  • @DanJ30 I spoke to a guy who was on the production crew a few years back , he said the pilots were always calling it "Airdog". All those added on parts really slowed it up dramatically.

  • Fly's like a normal helicopter, no guns or turbo boost unfortunately.

  • @syrio000 Unfortunately, after "Airwolf" was cancelled the modifications were removed, it was repainted and eventually sold to a German helicopter charter company. While operating as an air ambulance, the helicopter crashed in a thunderstorm on June 6, 1992, killing its three passengers.
