  • I like the way you play this song. There have been so many different interpretations of it in the tablature on the 'net, and it was hard to find a good lesson on this song when I was a kid first getting into guitar. I taught myself most of Neil's songs over many years and stopped using tabs but I like YouTube videos now. Just a few things here that were helpful that I already tried out, it makes my version sound closer to the album, which is cool, thanks and kudos for posting (people are mean!).

  • @bveracka - thanks! glad it was useful for you.

  • very good lesson great job merci good sound what sort of guitar is it? the frensh

  • @MrClaude57 - merci! The guitar is a 1969 Gibson C&W.

  • great lesson but........... that's not travis picking; it's hybrid picking. travis picking is when you are playing simultaneously the bass (with thumb) and the melody+harmony (with fingers), so that you are actually playing two distinct parts at the same time. your usage of your signature finger is part of the rhythm of the song, which means what you are doing is technically hybrid picking. check wikipedia under travis picking if you doubt me. much love,

    the captain

  • @letebaguere thanks for that clarification.

  • Always been one of my favourite Neil Young songs, many thanks for your informative lesson on how to play it. I've got The Needle and the Damage done about mastered, so it will be great to add this song to my repertoire. Cheers chap 👍
