Seriously, you're a funny kid.
You need to do the right steps to get a high rank, but CLEARLY the step machine is for coordinated moves to have fun in it dancing. If the producers didn't want them to dance, they would put a hand control instead.
Throw that cousin of yours and this guy in a World's Pump Tourney. Check who wins.

@howaboutmypk Thet's one reason. Another one: in a competition, female Speed competitors can utilize the bar for balance.
(If you don't know, the Speed category is dancing to the set, on high difficulty [eg: World Pump Festival uses Crazy for Preliminary competition and Nightmare for Finals] to rack up as many points as possible. Girls are permitted to use the bar; men are forbidden.)

Just to let you know, xabuabux, the guy is doing something called "freestyling", where you basically choreograph your own dance moves to the steps. (There used to be huge competitions for this!) So, the point is to choreograph an awesome dance rather than getting A+ on the hardest mode. It makes DDR/PIU players more interesting to watch... and it's quite refreshing to watch compared to the players who bar-rape to get A+ on the game's hardest mode.
