In this session you'll learn how to use popular Google and third party tools to build a robust and maintainable GWT+GAE app. We'll use Google Plugin for Eclipse, Objectify-App Engine with GWT's RequestFactory for persistence, and gwt-platform (GWT MVP framework) for the UI.

  • Great Presentention men!

  • Great Presentation!

  • GWT is great now, it was a nightmare a few years ago.

  • @sq4you - thanks for your comment. I am considering GWT for a project and that comment nearly scared me off. I have no interest in using the DTO anti-pattern unless absolutely forced to!

  • At around the 14 minute mark, the presenter states that JPA and JDO annotations on persistent entities cannot be converted to javascript by the GWT compiler which forces developers to create DataTransferObjects. This isn't true. The compiler works perfectly fine with the persistence annotations. In addition, the GWT serialization engine knows how to handle classes that have been enhanced by data nucleus.

  • That one is really highly productive, I can feel it.
