Russian journalist and political scientist Julia Latynina thinks there is no democracy in Georgia and explains why.

Narrated in Russian.Translated into English.

J.Latynina comes to a conclusion that problems of democracy in Georgia lies not in the Georgian Goverment but rather in political insanity of opposition.

I heard in one of the Saakashvili's interview with American TV station where the journalist after questioning our president said:
"Well sir, Ithing USA would be proud to have a president like you".
Is Saakashvili overqualified to be Georgian President?
-the history will show.

One thing is clear for me-Georgia never had such a leader at least in the past 300 years.

Not everything is great in Georgia:
there are poor people(like antwhere else in civilised countries). But it's is the fastest growing economy in the world and one of the best and secure countries to invest.

When it will e on the level of Swizzerland?
with Saakashvili type leaders in 20 years
with opposition type that we know today-may be never.

Saakashvili won the election fare and square according to international observers, in fact it was given 4+ as Russia recieved 2-.
It was like in democratic countries 61% not 99% or 100%.
and yet oposition talks about Saakashvili forging the election.
On what ground?:on their own observation and hearsay

I often speak to opposition people and ask them the same question when the start to blame Saakashvili.
Sadly I always have answeres that are not at all grounded by facts but are very emotional.

Shalva Natelashvili(another leader of basicaly a new communist trend) openly, during the TV show, accused Saakashvili of being corrupted.
When interviewer asked if he has any, any facts, supporting the allegations, he smiled at her, and said
"don't be naive-of course he is smart enough to hide it."

So no facts-this is called slander and in normal countries under the law, one can go to prison for that.
But he is not in prison complaining about no fredom of speach-rather a freadom of lies he wants to have.

Also Georgian oposition believes that Governement should not use forse no matter what happens.
Please name me any, I mean, any democratic country in the world that doesn't use forse in case of civil unrest.

Georgians have to understand that they have a state now, and Governement will use forse once in a while againts it's own people, or rather extremists. Before it was a Soviet empire and Russian solgiers and all blame was on them.
If not, Georgia will be under revolution state every time somebody will want to change the governement.

Georgia wiil be in a catch22 situation if Georgian opposition won't learn one important Democratic rule.

When you loose, except it and wait till the next election.
Otherwise any other winning party will face the same and ever worse crises. That would go forever before west totaly turns away from us and then what would happen you probably guess.
Georgia will have a reputation of a not stable country-no investments will flow like during Saakashvili and then people will realy know what misery is-but that will be too late.
To restore a reputation takes years, to distroy it just days
