http://www.ted.com Speaking at a TED Salon in London, economist Martin Jacques asks: How do we in the West make sense of China and its phenomenal rise? The author of "When China Rules the World," he examines why the West often puzzles over the growing power of the Chinese economy, and offers three building blocks for understanding what China is and will become.

  • @theiliad2000x The Japanese armies were emasculated because they had murdered almost 10,000,000 people in WW2 and 6,000,000 of those were Chinese. The number did not include how many Chinese were killed by the Japanese during Qing dynasty and pre-WW2, which was estimated for another 35 million lives. The number also did not include other Asian countries, such as Korea and Vietnam. You still think emasculating the Japanese army is a mistake? May God and those who died forgive your soul.

  • And I should mention Zhen He's fleet went to Africa and Middle East 7 times, and with 300-ship strong armada

  • I lost a lot of respect for this speaker when I watched an interview with him. He was asked about using "when" instead of "if" in the subtitle of his book...he said that it made for a catchy subtitle and that he really didn't know if China would certainly become the dominant economic force in the world...he just said "when" for a catchy subtitle. Oh well...maybe he's just trying to sell his book.
