@sub40 Bruno Sammartino's June 1974 WWWF title defense against Don Leo Jonathan at the Capitol Center was my first live wrestling event. That battle, as all their meetings, was a classic.

well, Rocca's moves entertained the audience....so I guess that's what matters. I do wish there were more footage of DLM available. Apparently he could flip out of back drops!

So many of Rocca's moves...just fluff and so unrealistic. Imagine a guy on your shoulders...how hard is it to fall on your back and give it to him?
Don Leo...an amazing athlete...SUPERIOR to Rocca. He could WALK THE ROPE, do back flips from the turnbuckle....look at his reaction to Rocca's dropkicks....incredible how well he plays it. He had so much. Even guys today have nowhere near his athletic prowess

Exactly! When Bruno regained the title and brought wrestling back to Washington, D.C., his first title defense at the Capitol Center was against Don Leo Jonathan. A thirty minute match, the time melted like butter and felt like just moments.

Rocca and Argentino Apollo were natrual high flyers.They were not acrobatic stunt wrestlers like today!! Theye had enormus leg strength and upper body leverage!

I had the good fortune of knowing Don leo we where his neighbor for many years Living in B.C. I also grew up with Shawn Staziac I had many coversations with his dad Stan "the man" Staziac who told me Don Leo was the strongest man he ever wrestled. My family is still very close with Don and his wife Rose. Don is living in B.C. Canada and has his health however I can't say the same for his back. Just thought all you Don Leo Johnathan fans would like to know how hes doing.

That would be great if available. I was a big Don Leo fan back in the Samartino/Morales days.
