  • @venemouslobster you have a way with words seldom found on the internet. I'm glad people like you still exist.

  • @LyricBent

Bless your heart and thank you, and thank the amazing Stan Rogers. My best to you.

  • this song is possessed of a fierce and elegant beauty

  • @venomouslobster

Perfect description. It makes the hair stand up on my arms.

  • Stan Rodgers is so missed....a TRUE CANADIAN..this is where our old forgotten culture stays......The Giant Will Rise With The Moon....THE MAPLE LEAF FOREVER

  • @EnglishMut

Yes, and having seen Fingal's cave through the fog, the Scottish heritage adds to the wonderful Canadian singer who never forgot. Wonderful singer he was. C.

  • Perfect song for today, to my mind...

  • @venomouslobster wow nice words

  • @GReesor when I track my copy of Live in Halifax down I'm going to burn a dozen copies. I think it's bewitched or something and doomed to be lost. The one I have now is a second copy too since the first was left in place I used to work and long long gone. CBC also took their time releasing the recordings till long after Stan died too. Come to think of it CBC probably has an archive of Stan bootleg material that no-one has heard...hmmmmm....

  • @chutoi26 It is, yes. I used to have two copies of it, but I gave one away and the other I think was sold while I was out of town.

  • @GReesor I think that is from the "Live in Halifax" CD. My copy is in storage or lost so I can't confirm but I'm pretty sure. Garnet makes several great comments between the various songs during that show.

  • @chutoi26 So very very true. I loved the part about "Off... waaaaay off in the distance... comes the sound of a bagpipe... Or maybe it's someone strangling a pig, I dunno. It all sounds the same when you've had enough whiskey."

Presuming that we're talking about the same CD :)

  • I always thought it was “fog on ‘Brador”, but I saw some lyrics that said “fog on Bras d’Or”, turns out there’s a lake on Cape Breton called Bras d’Or. Huh.

  • There's a cloud-shrouded moon outside of my window this morning and when I noticed it I immediately thought of this song. Skol.
