AffieFilms brings you a bit of local History.
Sitting a little way back, from the Leeds- Liverpool canal on a stretch between Higher Wheelton & the Top Lock, is an old, disused railway bridge. This was part of the Chorley to Blackburn line that sadly closed in 1966.
AffieFilms is hoping to trace more of the line and put the whole thing together. For now, here is one of the many bridges, hiding away and merging with the beautiful countryside.
All footage filmed and owned by AffieFilms.
@ThePrestonChannel... I agree! It's a real shame.... Each generation seems to care accumulatively less about leaving structural or Humanitarian legacies to their children. They behave as if THEIR generation is the only one that matters. I don't personally think the world is going to blow up anytime soon... We should preserve all that is left of our heritage.. Of the past... Symbols of the GREAT things that mankind is capable of....

@TheBigcheese74 So is water still actually flowing through this pipeline as we speak. If I recall correctly something a colleague told me a while back, the Thirlmere Aqueduct carries water from the Lake District to Manchester?

This was constructed to carry the Thirlmere Aqueduct. Look it up on Google images. The access gates are a giveaway, you'll see these throughout the course of th aqueduct run, from Thirlmere to Heaton park. The Chorley to Blackburn line ran a few miles north, Heapy, White Coppice, Withnell, Abbey Village and onwards.
