SelectPlusFragments Found in Plane Boost Jet Hole TheoryFragments Found in Plane Boost Jet Hole TheoryThe Associated PressInvestigators found fragments that appear to bolster the theory that an oxygen tank exploded on a Qantas jet, forcing it to make a dramatic emergency landing with a car-sized hole in its fuselage, an official said on Monday. (July 28)Investigators have found physical evidence that supports the leading theory of what caused a giant hole in a Qantas 747. [Notes:MANILA] (SOT: NEVILLE BLYTH, SENIOR INVESTIGATOR FROM THE AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT SAFETY BUREAU)I CAN CONFIRM THAT THE NUMBER FOUR OXYGEN CYLINDER FROM THE FORWARD CARGO HOLD OF THE AIRCRAFT IS MISSING AND UNACCOUNTED FOR. THIS CYLINDER IS LOCATED IN THE AREA OF THE HULL BREACH. Investigators also say they're recovered a number of small parts in the cargo hold and the passenger cabin, including part of an oxygen cylinder valve.(SOT: NEVILLE BLYTH, SENIOR INVESTIGATOR FROM THE AUSTRALIAN TRANSPORT SAFETY BUREAU)THE CABIN FLOOR OF THE AIRCRAFT HAS A HOLE APPROXIMATELY 20 CENTIMETRES IN DIAMETER ABOVE THE LOCATION OF THE CYLINDER.(Q: SO IT APPEARS THE VALVE BLEW OUT?)THAT IS PROBABLE.The jumbo jet made an emergency landing Friday after passengers heard a loud bang and the cabin lost pressure. Once on the ground, it was clear that there was a car-sized hole in the fuselage. Australian-based Qantas ordered oxygen tanks on all of its Boeing 747-400s to be immediately inspected. The U-S Federal Aviation Administration had previously warned airlines to inspect oxygen cylinders on their planes. But a Qantas official says the oxygen system on the troubled aircraft appears to be different from the type that led to the F-A-A warning.DAVID COX, QANTAS HEAD OF ENGINEERING: "BOEING ADVISES THAT NO THEY HAVE NOT HAD ONE OF THEIR AIRCRAFT WITH AN OXYGEN TANK DISINTEGRATING. HOWEVER, WE DON'T KNOW THAT WAS THE ROOT CAUSE, SO THAT IS WHY WE ARE NOT GOING TO SPECULATE. THE FACT THAT THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED MAY BE RELEVANT, IT MAY NOT BE RELEVANT." [Notes:SYDNEY]None of the 365 passengers or crew members was injured. The C-E-O of Qantas says the incident may have been out of the airline's control, but he added that it's one it regrets. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

  • wow And they landed It With Precision They Must teach our US Pilots This unless they're at Denny Fitch's Level. Explosive Decompression can Cause multiple issues however fortunate this happened on in the assisted land module area and not more center of the fuselage where master flight controls are routed also the 747 was considered the best american Passenger jet of its time in close competition to the DC-10 the 747 was tougher and handled better in my opinion Quantas Pilots rock way to go JCLU

  • Gotta love the good ol 747

  • tbh qantas has never had a plane crash that must of been a different company that went bust qantas has the best safety record over all the airlines. get ur facts right u dump fucker.

  • luck is imaginary no one has any

  • luck does exist. look at the qantas runway overun accident in bangkok.

qantas were blasted by aviation authorites for the accident and it was lucky that after the qantas 747 ended up on a road on its belly that the plane did not ignite into flames.

so luck does exist - believe it or not.

  • no, its no luck, thre is no mathematical factor of luck. luck does not exist. not even in cards,

  • someone has to be number one in safety

i believe quantis is that one

  • Oh dear...I seem to have touched a nerve!

Yes Qantas did have fatal crashes in their early years - go look it up fuckface. All I am saying is that there is a big element of luck to Qantas not having any crashes this past 50 years plus many airlines operate far bigger fleets than Qantas, hence are more likely to have accidents.

Go google "bangkok qantas overrun" and tell me Qantas were not lucky there were not fatalities.

  • Listen Fuck face no Qantas plane crashed the publicity gives the airline a bad reputation so i don't give a shit what you think go fly your fucking shit ass airline because Qantas is No#1

  • And they still havn't :D
