The Home Depot® Foundation announced a pledge of $1.05 million to The Mission Continues. The Foundation's financial commitment will be amplified by associates from The Home Depot, collectively called Team Depot, who will be working side-by-side with military veterans across the country through The Mission Continues to complete service projects that will improve the homes and lives of veterans and their families.

Thanks to this generous investment from The Home Depot Foundation, Mission Continues volunteers and Team Depot members will join forces to complete nearly 200 community service projects in 60 days during this 'Celebration of Service' campaign which will run between September 11th and Veterans Day 2011. In addition, a Mission Continues Fellow will be placed at The Home Depot Foundation for a six-month fellowship to assist with project management for all volunteer projects.

This partnership between The Home Depot Foundation and The Mission Continues will be directly aimed at improving homes, facilities and community centers where veterans live and receive services. Together, we will be working with a diverse group of national organizations including American Legions, Disabled American Veterans and Rebuilding Together to carry out a variety of service projects. Projects will include work such as renovating and repairing homes or disabled veterans; improving Fisher House locations where loved ones stay while wounded veterans undergo treatment at VA and military hospitals; and landscaping apartments for formerly homeless veterans and their families.

In April 2011, The Home Depot Foundation announced a three year, $30 million initiative to help ease the burdens of this deserving group by repairing and renovating homes for military veterans.
