If you look carefully at 1.41-1.42, the signal turns green before the train is past the signal. It looks like an optical sensor to detect the train is being used here.

Very nice, but realistically, the signal would have stayed red for a while after the train had passed. I remember watching the old one by our house and you could tell just how far a train was by the color of the light. If it was green, there was no train within a long distance. When it turned yellow, that meant a train was approaching in the far distance and when it turned red that train was just a couple miles away. I noticed that after the train had passed, the signal would go to green again.

Wow that was great. My son and I want to add signals to our layout too. What system did you use? Are the trains sounds from a sound decoder? If so what sound decoder? It sounds so real!
