it sounds like tom hanks didn't understand the movie he was in and thus short changed it by saying "no message here, hopefully $7 well spent". that makes me sad, because this movie is full of messages! it's not a popcorn film, it's a deeply emotional unique life changing fable. at least that's what i get from it.
