@jimlaredo87 are you sure. the 80s Carb 150.8 (151cui) 2.5 put out 107hp at the wheels ( people went after the 258 for the tourque) the TBI 2.5 put our 113 while the 2.5L EFI ( 1991 to 1995 ) put out 123 hp. i own the Efi 2.5 its good tough engine u can beat the shit out of and keep going. check out my videos

Well it my sound nice to all of ya, ,, but here's the facts you better have some back pressure .. with that I am saying keep the cat or muffler ... I my self would and have on my 91 yj blackjack header, 2.5 pipe and at almost the back is a flowmaster Muffler .. to have some back pressure ..

No cat or muffler? Hmmmm I might consider getting rid of my muffler and see how mine sounds.

Does a Flowmaster 40 make close to this sound with stock pipes, engine, etc.? or do you need to modify things more?
what do you think about the 4.2 258 power wise?
i have a 1994 jeep wrangler 4.0 an it has 206xxx miles on it. and i just bought a 4.2 bored 40 over for 600$ has all the shit i need for it. im going to swap the 4.0 head on to it. thats about another 40 hp gain. so what do you think

well stock from the factory, the 258's produced 112 hp to the wheels at around 3200RPM, also 210 ft.lbs of torque at 2000RPM. It may not seen like much, but they sure get up and go pretty damn quick. From the info your givin me about that motor, it sounds like you should have plenty of power for a long time, that motor should last you a while. With the 4.0 head, you should be able to turn around 5500RPM before you shift. If you ever want more HP, go with the TBI conversion. Hope this helped!
