  • ralph, killin it as always

  • awesome

  • nice!

  • @swingsetone yeah dude you're totally right. ralph peterson doesn't know anything about elvin! oh wait, yes he does. you sound like an ignorant ass hole. ralph peterson is one of the baddest cats out there, and he knows more about elvin than you ever will, hands down.

  • @mslrep69 right, because ralph peterson needs advice on how to play like elvin, from you. that is so ridiculously stupid, you have no idea.

  • sweet....its like butta ......thanks Ralph!!!

  • @jimihendrix31 If you want a lesson, study jazz at a university or purchase the video. The rest of the cats hating on Ralph have obviously not studied enough music to even understand how much work was involved to regurgitate all this information in to less than 3 min clips.

  • @pickinstone Yeah, some of my favourites are Grady Tate, Harvey Mason, Louis Hayes, Joe Morello. I'm really into Latin stuff too so I love Robin Jones, Chico Pinheiro, Jobim, Maria Rita, Elis Regina and so many more. You Tube is just amazing for all the stuff I ever wanted to hear, Art Pepper, Marty Paich, Sonny Stitt, Tubby Hayes, Wes Montgomery, Don Patterson etc etc. If you're relatively young and into jazz, you've got it made right here. All the phraseology you can bear!!

  • @kaferere wow, 40 years. I've only been listening to Jazz for 10 something years. You could teach me some, which drummers do you listen to?

For a wide spectrum of the classic quartet's playing, I'd find a copy of Ballads and a copy of Coltrane (that's the album name) to start with. You can find both in the Impulse catalog up on Amazon. I love Coltrane's classic quartet, his sound got me into playing the form.

  • @pickinstone Thanks for the info! I will be seeking out Elvin, he's so constructive and musical. I've been listening to Jazz for a long time, almost 40 something years but there are a few names that just didn't appear on my radar for some reason, I don't know why. I can now catch up thanks to the internet and guys like you. Thanks again. Stay healthy.
