Orfeo, the baroque opera by Claudio Monteverdi, was directed by Joke Hoolboom on a special location. A concrete factory in Amersfoort (The Netherlands). A stunning performance on a stunning factory.
I can appreciate contemporary versions of The Marriage of Figaro and other operas that touch upon class struggles. But police brutality and upper-class power abuse are definately not in L'Orfeo. This production stretched too far!
