In this golf lesson, we are watching the hips and lower body. As this student is getting better and better all the time, it is important to pay attention to the lower body in her swing. If the lower body is not working properly in a golf swing, it can certainly cause the upper body to make compensations. The main focus in this lesson is to stabilize the lower body while the upper body, arms and hands, swing the club to the top. In the down swing, it will be the exact opposite. The lower body will start the down swing, as the shoulders, arms and hands follow. Please keep in mind that each person has their own flexiblilty range. As an instructor, I need to be sure I am allowing the student to use their own range of motion. However, in this case, my junior has very good flexibility and we can do exercises to encourage proper positioning. I am always careful and watch and learn the swing of each person.

  • aswesome backswing the way you hold that twist and stop lol . looks like a contortionist .

  • im actually working on this right now, because of the shift to the right of my hips on my backswing, im forced to come over the top rather than coming straight down the plane. nice drill btw.
