Timmi Pappas, 64, put herself on the line for health care for all on October 8 at the offices of Cigna health insurance company. She was arrested sitting in the lobby of the insurance company and demanding immediate approval of all doctor-recommended lifesaving treatments on file. She represented the hundreds of people every day who are denied
"This is the only country in the world that puts insurance companies profits ahead of people's lives," said Pappas. She supports solutions that address the real cause of the health care crisis, the insurance companies.
"We really need universal coverage for everybody, and the best way to do that is to expand Medicare to everybody," she said. Pappas lives in Evanston, IL, a suburb of Chicago.
There will be sit-ins in health insurance company offices in nine cities on Thursday, October 15. To learn more or sign up to attend a rally or participate in a sit-in, visit www.mobilizeforhealthcare.org.
