Till now, I've never heard Vernon Dalhart sing something that wasn't lugubrious...!

@PJDooWop they were like the Betamax of their time - a better technology that was outsold by its competition!

I think Hill and Dale records were far superior to the standard acoustic records of the time as far as sound quality is concerned.

Very, very badass! Thanx for posting this!

The Georgia Melodians broke up in late 1924. Apparently customers wanted new Georgia Melodians records, so Edison had some original members [plus anyone else in New York who could show up] record under the "Georgia Melodians" name until 1926.

I agree with Mr. Edison Squirrel on this one, by far, a great phonograph and great rendition for this dance band! thanks for posting.

What a beautiful and fascinating phonograph! Interesting grille. The Georgia Melodians are among the best dance bands to record for Edison, and "Red Hot Henry Brown" showcases their talent very well.
What INCREDIBLE quality! Wow!
That disc is impeccable.
Nice phonograph, especially nice disc, and what a sweet, cool song. I feel like I'm in a different time already.

Thanks for the comment, I am very happy you enjoyed it. The Georgia Melodians was one of those great unknown Jazz bands that cut some sides for Edison in 1924-25, and then in a short time vanished. I will try to put up my 2nd favorite from that band, "Red Hot Mama" as soon as I have the time. thanks again.
