@ushspantherfootball: Unfortunately, this increase is proposed to stymie and cushion the effects of the bad economy will have on the students attending TAMIU. Usually, a university would gradually increase this fee a little each year, but because of the recent freeze of tuition rates for two years by the Board of Regents and the budget cuts asked by our state government (which was around $2.5 million to be returned to the state), our institution will not be able to function to full capacity...

With how the economy is, most of us who pay out of our pockets cannot afford this increase, even if it is a few dollars per credit hour. It is hard enough just making ends meet. Shouldn't this be proposed when the economy is finally stable. Seems to me that because most people don't pay for their classes themselves, that it is an okay thing to do.
