Mods for V2 gearbox: trigger post fix using a 3/8" hardened steel fine thread screw and anti-reversal latch mod for facilitated spring pressure dissipation

This video is directed to two kinds of people:
1) Those who don't want to buy a whole new $80 gearbox shell but prefer to spend $2.50 for a drill bit and $0.18 for a hardened steel fine thread screw and $2 for sandpaper (if not less).
2) Those who hate fiddling with locked back gearboxes with m140 springs (or any spring for that matter), and hate flying parts and broken tappet plates.

The first mod shows how to put a MUCH stronger trigger post in, so strong in fact that many other parts of the gearbox will break before it even THINKS of breaking.

The second mod shows how to mod the anti-reversal latch so you can release spring pressure without the spring guide and other parts flying clear to Africa or a tappet plate snapping in half when you open up the gearbox.

For the first mod, you'll need a dremel (easiest approach), a dremel cutoff bit (wheel), a drill press or an extremely accurate hand and a high speed drill, a 3/8" cobalt drill bit, a 3/8" hardened steel fine threaded screw, a dremel grinding stone (or some other means of grinding), a screwdriver, 400 grit sandpaper, and some 2000 grit sandpaper to make it look shiny :), and a clamp.

For the second mod, you'll only need a dremel with a cutoff bit or an extremely accurate hand and a hacksaw.

Hopefully this will help you save some money and help with frustration.

  • what happens if you compleatly remove the anti reversallatch? because mine is being a bich and i think the spring is ever so slight ly bent and now it hates me

  • @MrStemkilla Well, it acts as a ratchet preventing backwards movement of the piston and gears. I don't know for sure.

  • @MrStemkilla if you havnt found out, your gears will wind backwards possibly ruining your gears or motor, and it can way mess with ur semi auto

  • LOL. Love this, I have no problem with the kwa gearboxes old and new. .But this is very nice fix i might add. Nice fix. And the anti reversal latch idea is great

  • @MrStemkilla I tried it. Depending on the voltage of the battery, you will only get a shot every 2 trigger pulls on semiauto, and you can damage the back of the piston, if your spring is relativeley strong and the motor is very weak, but if your gun is completly stock, and you use a 8.4V Small Type or lower, you wont have many problems, and with higher voltage batteries, the only problem will be the 2 trigger puls, one shot problem on semi.

  • @TungH Actually, this box lasted through 30000 BBs more than the CA shell. There is stress on it, which is why it is a common problem with v2 gearboxes. See that spring that hooks onto it and holds the trigger trolley back? Well, every time that goes forward on semi auto, the cutoff lever hits the trolley causing the spring to pull it back and hit that post, and if that is pulled back like that many, many times (i'm a semi auto guy), the post will eventually break.
