Unhappy Mothers Day: A visit to an intensive breeding sow unit

Campaigners from national pressure group Animal Aid have this week visited an intensive West Country pig farm in an attempt to bring a little happiness into the otherwise desolate lives of breeding sows. The caring campaigners took apples to the porcine mothers incarcerated in highly restrictive and extremely controversial farrowing crates.

This is so sad! I feel bad for the mother pigs living like this and for the poor dead piglets. It was nice that these people tried to bring a little joy to their lives for one day at least.

If you can't go vegan (I can't imagine why not, but you may have your reasons), just reduce the meat and other animal products you eat to a low level. Buy organic food only.

Pigs are usually slaughtered when they are 100 kg (not older than 6 months).

Look: Wild sows build a nest and then get their babies.

Let the domestic sows do the same. Pigs need straw to build a nest and you will see, it's very seldom that a little piggy is killed by it's mother.

The way sows are treated nowadays is inhumane and the only reason for it is, that it's more expensive to clean the stalls if you use straw.

what is it? about 42,000,000 human abortions a day? There's something that braks my heart! Why don't you go into the hospital and do a video on that? People seem to care more about anamials than humans. Pigs are pigs. I've seen them happy, I've seen them sad, even had some attack me. Most of there happiness comes from how much they get fed. And why is it always dark when you guys make these videos? do you guys brake at night in or what?
