This is a powerpoint introduction I have used to give fellow teachers an overview of the TI-Nspire. I have been using it in my mathematics (AP Calculus) and science (AP Physics) classroom since 2007. There is not a better piece of technology for math and science classes. I also enjoy using the TI-Nspire Navigator for classroom management and formative assessment, but that is for a different video.

  • what is better: ti-nspire cx handheld or ti-nspire cx cas? which one is allowed in more exams??

  • @kkwalshiee The TI-Nspire CX CAS is better: It has more built in functionality that is a boon for mathematics and science exploration and discovery. For the teacher, I say "Get the CAS!" Good question about the exam. The CX CAS is permitted on the PSAT, SAT, and the AP exams. CX is allowed on those and the ACT and IB. Many state math tests do not permit CAS, but do permit the TI-Nspire CX.

If you need to take the ACT, then borrow a friend's who got the TI-Nspire CX, while you enjoy CX all year.

  • I used the TI-89 in my pre-calc and calc class for 10 years, but when the TI-Nspire came out 4 years ago or so, I've been using that ever since. There are so many reasons why I would recommend, but space does not allow. A summary the reasons can be found on my blog. Also I highly recommend posting this question with to TI-Nspire Google Group to get a response from Statistics teachers as well. Links to these can be found from my channel site.

  • For instructions to install the software you can do a google search of "TI-Nspire installation activation Guidebook" and you can get instruction in a number of languages. YouTube comments don't all me to give the direct link.

  • In answer to the question about installing the software on the computer, the TI-Nspire student software is available at education.ti.com

  • I'm concerned that the trig functions are two clicks away... I am in Engineering at University and I probably use those functions literally dozens and dozens of times each day. Sometimes one algebraic expression will have 10-15 trig functions... Is there a way to shortcut the trig functions to the keyboard?

  • whats the difference between cx and the cx cas my cx cas

  • @covenantbird thank you soooo much!!! Just placed my order!

  • Next year I might take AP statistics and analysis and the year after that I am taking AP Calculus. Would you recommend that I purchase this calculator? Some say that the TI-89 is better. Which do you prefer and recommend and why? Thanks

  • Si pudieras decirme como instalaste el software en la computradora te lo agradeceria demaciado
