  • i think i want a cockatiel. do they sing such pretty things naturaly or do you need to teach them? thi sis so cute

  • They are naturally vocal, esp. the males. You don't need to teach them; however, if any particular tune or melody is whistled or spoken around them constantly enough, they're prone to mimic it, usually with greatly varying accuracy. Either way, it's cute, and they have little hearts of gold, esp. the hand-raised Cockatiels like this one!

  • A slate grey male with white head and no orange cheek patches. This is a rare color mutation. Have you considered breeding him?

  • Such a cutie!!! So sweet!

  • I love Cockatiels! They just have this innocent sweetness about them, and they're pretty easy to take care of. Ours likes my husband way better than me, but still, she's just sweet. they love to sing and whistle A LOT but it's not an an annoying way like some birds lol.

  • so cute!

  • i love the colour on this guy,

how do you breed this kind of color?

  • @OMGZALLAMA we've had him over a year. I'm not going to put my nose near his beak thanks, he bites! he bites if my daughter tries to kiss him (she is 16), he bites whenever we try to get him on our fingers, we say STEP UP. he will step on our fingers but not before he's bitten a few times. he's also taken a small chunk of skin too. he does not like to be touched. I had a white cockatiel 25 years ago, used to belong to my ex's dad, now that bird loved to have its head rubbed or be stroked.

  • @wheelchairmommy How long have you had him? Some birds are afraid of fingers. :] You can try petting him with your nose instead. I'd also check out this forum called Tailfeathers Network, it's very helpful and the people there will answer your questions. If you know about his past too that should help!

  • I have a white face cockatiel too..since we've had him, he's learned quite a bit. however, he STILL bites and will not let anyone pet him.

  • @peterkellyflores I meant heart... sorry.

  • @peterkellyflores Hands of gold my ass! They always hiss at me and try to bite me.
