A Story Of Times Gone By, Full Of Nostalgia. This Was One Of John's Most Popular Songs From The 90's. John Hogan First Came To Our Attention In The Mid To Late 80's During A Time When It Seemed There Was A New Singer On The Scene Every Day (And They All Tried To Be Daniel O'Donnell) But John Has A Unique Voice And Has Proved That He Has Staying Power Where Many Others From The Same Era Fell By The Wayside. John Got A Big Leap Forward In His Career When He Joined The Rirz Record Label, Who At The Time Had Some Of The Biggest Names In Irish Music, Daniel O'Donnell, Foster & Allen Just To Name Two.

  • Written by Michael Maloney (my uncle) - he arrived at his parents house at their farm in the west of Ireland one afternoon to find it locked and nobody at home. This was quite unusual because the door was nearly always open and if it was closed the key was in it.

He realised that afternoon that the day would come - as it did - when there would no longer be anyone living there and home would be a memory - it was this which inspired this song.

  • Tears on the laptop again'this song fills me up..!!My fathers favourite song..He is over 70 and worked on threshers and came from a little cottage like that..Im 36yrs and even i have memmories of working on farms as a young boy and even now that has all changed..A way of life sold out by the Celtic tiger..how i wish we had simple times like that back..Thats what made us Irish..I am proud to be from the country..Most young people nowadays will never experiance working in the fields..How sad..!!

  • thanks very much for that it was a real pick me up beautiful
