I think it is a strategy to keep the magic... When they're not talking nobody knows who wears the costume.. Sometimes Mickey is "played" by a woman for example, this would be really disillusioned to know.
But I think it's good that they don't talk... it's fantastic what they are able to say with their bodylanguage and without any words.. it's magic.

@Eddy2730 i mean I was a mascot once, and making so many kids happy and all that was alot of fun! Though it is hard work carrying a big head around on a hot day. :P

@Vakama95096 Only the ones that are not wearing masks. The ones that are wearing masks do not talk, only gesture. They are wonderful anyway!
