  • For electric helis, if you can control throttle directly with throttle channel, why do you need a gov? can you do mild 3D without a gov? i only have a 6 channel radio and am thinking of moving up to a Outrage 550 or Trex 600 or 700 esp and wonder if I need a 7 channel radio.

  • @pi3k

    I do not use gov mode myself. I use the radio settings for a throttle curve. You do not need a gov for 3D flying. And yes you can use a 6 chanel radio for these sized helicopters. I started with the DX6i and later got the DX7se.

  • Great vid... kudos to your camera guy as well.

  • @dolbydarma Thanks,

    I am hoping to make a few more this season.

  • Nice video all around. The 550 rocks. I've had it on my list since Heli Invasion in 2009. Thanks for sharing.

  • The SWE main blades are Carbon, the stock tail blades are plastic.

    The kit itself is G10 Fiber.

  • Fiberglass or carbon?

  • SWE Main Blades and stock white tail blades.

    Both the NEU and Scopion motor are good for this Heli. The NEU has more power overall, runs a bit cooler But costs a lot more.

  • What main and tail blades? How is the Neu compared to the Scorpion? Thanks for your reply.

  • Current Setup:

    ESC =Castle Creations Phoenix ICE 100. Gov off. Fixed End Points with curve.

    Motor = NEU 1907-1Y (using 12T pinion) Head Speed 2250

    BEC = Western Robotics Hercules BEC High Current set at 5.3 V

    Cyclic servos x 3 = Futaba BLS451

    Gyro = Spartan DS760

    Tail Servo = JR8900G

    LiPo = 5000mAh 25C 6S
