I absolutely love this song and I have ever since I heard Clay Aiken do it. If you don't know, it's a song that was originally written for Disney's "Aladdin", when Aladdin wasn't an orphan, but rather had parents. It sounds a little (okay, a LOT) like "Part of Your World" from "The Little Mermaid" (which sounds a little/LOT like "Somewhere that's Green" from "Little Shop of Horrors")--all written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Regardless, I love this song. I do think my parents are proud of me, but it's always something good to strive for.

  • This is great. One of the better performances on here. I think you have done a better job of capturing Aladin's character. May I ask where you found the recording you are singing to?

  • @TyCarver Hey there--thanks for your kind words. This track is actually on several different karaoke CD's, one of all Aladdin songs and one from Disney Mania 3, I think.

  • I like that the last 'proud of your boy' is EXACTLY the same line as 'part of your world'

    oh disney.

    so original.

but really, this is good. excellent job.

  • I'm glad you caught that--but that was actually my doing--not Disney's. Though Alan Menken wrote both songs in question--the ending is actually different than what I did. I just did that to show how similar the songs are. Listen to Clay Aiken's version of this song, and you'll hear how it's supposed to go. :)

  • i dont know why they didn't use this song in aladdin. but they really should have.

  • I think the main reason they didn't use this song in the final movie was because they couldn't use it. Aladdin didn't "have" a mother or father, he was made to be an orphan--so he couldn't really have sung it to anyone. However, the tune is so beautiful, they certainly could have used it with different lyrics elsewhere in the film. I adore the song.

  • Ohh ya I know, I had a friend sing this for a recital, it just annoys me that so many songs overlap like that, ya know?

again, really great job, i love it!

  • The song works so TRUST it and leave out most of the movements you put in. Really nice voice.

  • Fantastic!
