  • Hey Syphen 888..I have the whole Silk ....DVD from Chen Xiao Wang..and it looks n the same...i understand what you are meening...but.........it looks the same

  • agree with richnwood, thank you so much,

  • You can really see Chen Xiaowang's influence here. Fantastic economy in movement with real power in the legs. Thanks for posting.

  • -Well said.

  • Thank you for posting these videos on silk reeling.

I hope to find a local instructor of Chen Style Taiji some day -- your videos have given me a great appreciation for your art!

  • Arrogant or not, his alignment is off, hence ineffective... SORRY. Note his hips. Reference my other comments Go test the effectiveness of what he does in reality... reality is the measure of truth... not rank, silly :-/

If the video poster actually bothers to read these comments... I mean no disrespect, I appreciate you putting yourself in the face of critics. I hope you consider my comments.

Furthermore, if you can point out where I'm mistaken I would appreciate your efforts.

    Thanks

  • It's really important not to just sit around and theorize about it, Give it a try. Weigh out my comment in reality. I realize a lot of people like to drop superfluous comments and then disappear. That is not my way. I'll do whatever I can do to convey my point as clearly as possible, then if you disagree you can still follow your own tao. I'm totally committed to the factual representation of taijiquan.

So likewise if you have a better way, please share.

    Peace Bro.

  • I don't typically create videos bt I'd be perfectly willing to make one for that purpose. Unfortunately, I'm in the midst of moving so my cam is packed. How convenient right? Sorry it's true. :-/ As long as the hands don't pass the centerline it's a good indication the hips are correctly aligned, in the cloud hands version of silk reeling it's *specifically* important to turn with the hips. Just try it against a wall; brick preferably, w/ hips then with waist. Connected body, powerful body ;-)

  • Mayhaps you could film yourself performing the movements and post it in order to show how you think it should be done?

  • Well... lower spinal rotation is not bad, but in taiji it can be. See Taijiquan is both a healing and martial art, as such tradition says that your power, specifically jing comes from having strong kidneys. In order to execute correct FaJing ( inertia like power as opposed to muscle power "li") the abdomen, anus, sex organs (including kidneys) must compress in unison. This is noticed in at the "Ming Men". If the hips are miss aligned the jing gets stuck... so... no "fa". Plus internal bruising.
