with a dramatic flair at the end:)
If this is a new pose for you grab a strap and make a small lasso for your foot. You'll slip the lasso over the ball of your foot and weave your elbow in and rotate it until it faces the ceiling. Again, if you're new, try just using one hand and extending the opposite arm forward with the index finger and thumb pressing (mudra). OR take your second hand to the strap as well. keep the chest lifting and press the shin bone back. this will lift your chest AND knee. walk the hand down the strap a few inches. repeat the action of pressing the shin bone back, chest up, knee lifts. keep this rhythm until some day your hands will find your foot. lose the strap and gently pull the foot up. for the second variation, lift the gaze, let the head fall back and pull the foot towards the head. try not to sling shot out and kill anyone near you! enjoy, this pose is an amazing heart opener and fantastic way to build balance and confidence.
You're so inspiring and i love your yoga videos Kathryn. : )

i think it's not about touching the foot to head.. it's all about the balance.. that's why this pose is called standing balance.. hehe

I don't think it was the flexibility... I think it was just the balance. I can touch my calf to my forehead when I am on the ground but I can't quite get to that standing up... or maybe she just screwed up like we all do sometimes... :D
