Sri Lanka - Scenes of Delft Island off the Jaffna Peninsula

Clips from my October 2003 travels to Delft Island off the Jaffna Peninsula in northern Sri Lanka. Wonderful place with friendly people. Most of the well water is salty so if you plan on going bring plenty of water with you. It takes about 4 hours to circle the whole island via tractor, the only form of motorized transportation on Delft. The horses in the video are wild horses left over from the Portuguese. The person singing is Simon Stephen, a local who we met on the boat ride over. He was kind enough to let us stay in his house and arrange to have us taken around the island. He is singing a Tamil song called 'Rose'. My other tape went missing so I only have these mediocre clips.

You are welcome.. The song is true reflection of inner dream. You can have all luxiries and your life could be miserable, so happiness is not in material richness, it is how you love your world, I thought of sending this to Milton Friedman, Thomas Friedman kinds who believe happiness is only in billions :)..
