As promised, a gameplay video of Far Cry on the ASUS Eee Box. 1280x1024x32 with low textures, particles etc., medium level water, anistropic filtering level 1 and bilinear texture filter.

Inside the first cavern area things are smooth, but as soon as the animation comes up, it slows. Venturing outside, the beach disappears! So the Eee Box is not exactly the ideal 3D gamer's choice, but if it can run Far Cry, it should be able to handle your 2D and rudimentary 3D applications quite well.

  • Is this the simple 202

or the new 204 and 206 that has a 3D card in it?

  • The simple 202; I recorded this from a first gen EeeBox that ASUS lent me

  • wee...eee ?!

  • I keept asking ASUS why they call their EeePC and Eee Boxes that... I guess it works as a brand, because its such a strange name to help you remember them

  • you ran this game in hardware mode - thats why it looks and runs like shit.

Read about software/hardware/undefinied vertex processing modes and play this game again, in software mode.

  • same thing on mine MSI wind U100 , intel atom n270 1.60ghz

  • dude its an Intel Atom so its not for gaing but it still is a great HTPC

  • funyn graphics, but good for a small pc like that thats good power

  • Probably no stuttering on the atom with 1gb ram and on lowest.

  • is that possible to run Call of Duty World at War or Modern Warfare on Asus EEE Box B206(with ATI Radeon 3450, 2 gigs or RAM, and Atom N270) ??? even on lowest details ??

  • I think this'll do just fine for playing Portal, over and over again. Love that game.

  • Not to mention the 208, which has the RV710 (HD 4530) chip.

With that you'll be able to play a lot of modern games, since they offload to GPU more than older games.

  • set lower resolution for better fps, maybe 640x480 or 800x600 for this pc

  • wow is this very good
