It recently occurred to me that what is achieved in the next 50 years will be things that we currently cannot even begin to imagine. Its unreal, this exponential growth of human development, and I think many people take it too much for granted.

Does anyone else get annoyed? But yet thankful to be living in the 21st century?
Annoyed because we will never get to see what lies in the future after us? And thankful that we are living in the greatest time of discovery..In our short existence?

The A/C is blasting, all lights blazing. Because these are great creative innovations brought forth by people were not silly enough to imagine that sitting in the dark is accomplishing anything. Shine on, Humankind!

Come Sunday night, I know that I personally will be basking in the miraculous glow of incandescent light that will be illuminating my entire household and a good bit of my yard. As I exhale carbone dioxide, I will reflect on human achievement to date. Then I may go hop in my gasoline-powered car, while leaving my lights and television on in my house, and drive down to the corner store and buy a cigar to smoke so I can further reflect and be thankful for the achievements of MANKIND!

To Man, the Hero
I'm looking forward to seeing mankind's progress in the next 100 years. I can see us starting to colonize the moon and mars by the time I'm 90 if I live that long. Hopefully we will also make long distance star ships like in the sci fi thrillers. FTL travel is mocked today, but I can see it becoming reality tomorrow. After all, we went from a combustion engine to space in less than 100 years.
