From the liner notes: Of the countless 12th and 13th century Trobairitz (female poet- musicians) who graces the magnificent courts of medievel Europe, we know only the names of a mere handful, which is why the source of so many of the poems and melodies such as this one remains a mystery. The language of the troubadours, know as Old Provençal, was the language spoken in the southern half of present day France. The poems of the Trobairitz mostly portray the joys or sorrows of a woman in love. Here, a woman sings of her regret for refusing the one whom she loves.

@stcazares I live there also. ;) The language from several troubadour/trobairitz is different than heard in this one song, which is why I wondered if indeed this one comes from a later period.

@aloiis Troubadour music comes from the Occitaine language , I live in the center of Occitane culture. It comes from the south, then the musicians traveled to the north to play therefore it would come to the north in a later period.
