It's unfortunate that because of his personal indecretions that a viable libertarian political figure was destroyed. It proves that if you want to lead a controversial movement you'd better keep your skirts clean. He might have made a great,proliberty president. I'd rather have sexual cheat Mark Sandford any day over sexually viruous Barack Obama.

I'd bet the CIA dug up his skeletons and outed him the second they realized he may be a viable liberty candidate for president in 2012. They knew he would challenge the status quo. He understands markets thrive with less government interference and even spoke out against preemptive war.

I'd say leave him alone, too...but he was the one so shocked & flabbergasted that Clinton had an affair.
Sure Lt Gov Bauer, who apparently is gay, would step in for him & probably make Lindsay Graham, who apparently gay, very happy -- but so what -- South Carolina is noted for their hypocrisy - constantly preaching against gays while electing them to office.
