Issues with the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter - 09.11.09

The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter or MRO seems to be having a few issues. The $720 million dollar mission is on hold while scientists try and determine why the system keeps rebooting. In fact the MRO has had 4 computer resets this year before NASA scientists put the spacecraft in to safe mode. While in safe mode the spacecraft has its solar arrays tracking the sun and communications antennae pointed at Earth to allow additional communications and software uplinks.

LOL Just got to this one. Great stuff! Had it minimized and was just listening to audio, so when I heard the blips and beeps, I actually had to check to see if all was well... Then, it clicked... Yeppers -- a little slow on the uptake this morning. (I'll just blame it on the tiredness...)

For some people it's just not their cup of tea. As we switch between the bland CNN-ish format we used in 2009 to a much more new media approach users will be getting content that is very different than what they had before. Some may decide to unsubscribe. It is completely understandable and while we hope they will stay with us we also understand that it will happen from time to time.

Some people want a CNN for space, which is fine, but that's not really us. We like to have a lot more fun!
