Tom Brier, Sight reading and playing for the very first time as music set in front of him. Contemporary piece by Larisa Migachyov. In the last strain, notice the intensity of concentration in his eyes, as he looks at the last page!

  • I swear the intro sounded like the Inspector Gadget theme! That was a great song :-).

  • @Chris246t8kr Don't know about that, but glad it was enjoyable for you....I like Laris's tune too. Thanks. VBR

  • Cool close up of Tom playing the Purple Chicken Rag of Larisa M. I know I need to practice with a metronome...I do appreciate his repeating notes as he looks at section C, of course he adds in non written stride in doing so. What a ragtime genius! One can check out my attempt on youtube, but it pales to this. It is fun to play though, no matter how it turns out, though U may want an ear plug occasionally to hear mine...teehee

  • @idasynco ----Thanks for looking Karen and commenting........I have heard you play it on your site! I think you leave out the D section, NO? I purchased Larisa's folio from whence this copy for Tom came, I practiced awhile and it was pretty easy except for me the D section.....Tom tells me that night, "if it so easy, YOU PLAY IT". I quit playing or trying to.

  • Larisa's wonderful rag getting the treatment by Tom Brier at the Grind in Oakhurst during the Fresno Flats Ragtime and Vintage Music Festival! Super rag! Super performance.

  • Thanks for watching/listening......Tom playing is special for sure.....I gave him the copy to play for me and first try at it is on the video.....Incredible

  • Superb preformance! Excelent sight-reading, too. Oh Tom....How I wish I could sight-read....play in general....as well as you can. Now I'd like to have Larisa play and Tom make up a companion rag on the spot.

    Very nice preformance.
