@Ralphgtx280 Harvesting yeast proves very useful when cloning beers. I'm doing a two-hearted ale clone and Bell's brewery uses an original strain. I can drink their awesome beer and harvest their yeast to make a close replica.

I was thinking after decanting and drinking the beer. So was thinking to store the yeast in a bottle for use later. I am looking forward to your video.

How long will the yeast store in bottles before adding sugar water or should one not wait?

@pixgirlie Do you mean wait for decanting the beer? I would think the yeast would be good for a while. Probably a year is too long. BTW I just did this again today. Video coming.

@pixgirlie I would add the sugar water straight away. It's not much work. After 2-3 days at room temperature you can store the yeast in a refrigerater for a while.

@spaar503 It turned out excellent! I just did it again last Tuesday. I'm going to make holiday brew using it today. Cheers!

why so much effort when brewing yeasts usually cost around $2 and you normally get free yeast with your malt extract anyway

@Ralphgtx280 The harvested yeast provides an interesting flavor and it really wasn't much effort. Since I like Coopers ales, I guess you could say that I got the yeast for free.
